Position Title: Perennial Landscaping Manager

Description: (full time live-in position, minimum one year commitment)

Are you a skilled permaculturist and edible landscaper, looking to move your permaculture career forward? Do you have a desire to live and work in an amazing permaculture community in the beautiful tropics of northern Thailand? Do you enjoy teaching permaculture and related subjects? Well, the Panya Project Perennial Landscaping Manager just might be the perfect role for you!

The Panya Project Perennial Landscaping Manager will be the person in charge of maintaining the existing perennial agricultural systems and creating new perennial gardens at a thriving permaculture farm, community and education center outside of Mae Taeng, Thailand. With the ultimate goal to make our zone one areas more productive, we need a person dedicated to their design and maintenance. This includes getting a good ground cover established, choosing the most appropriate perennial plant species and getting the weeds and grasses under control by applying permaculture strategies and conscious design. The perennial landscaping manager will thus transform our main living area into a lush and thriving ecosystem with the aim of demonstrating the power of edible landscape design. One of the other main duties of the perennial landscaping manager will be to assist in the teaching and running of courses at Panya, which occur on a regular basis here.

The main remuneration for this position will not be financial, but rather the experience of a lifetime – living in and helping manage one of the most successful permaculture intentional communities and education centers in Southeast Asia. Although we expect applicants to come to Panya with existing permaculture skills and qualifications, you will also pick up a ton of new skills and knowledge while here. That being said, the position does include a stipend of 6,000 baht/month (a competitive local salary in Thailand) as well as room and board on-site within the community. The perennial landscaping manager will have their own private natural building residence to live in with electricity and running water. Meals are eaten as a community and are primarily organic and vegetarian, although some sustainable meat is possible from time to time if desired. Small monthly bonuses from assisting in courses are also available as a supplement to the monthly salary.
